NPE Fourth-Graders Host Holiday Sing-a-Long
Thursday, December 19, 2019
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
Nate Perry Elementary fourth-graders and their teachers Kaitlyn Ertl, Carolyn Gutowski and Sarah Szulwach recently took the words of movie character Buddy the Elf to heart when they hosted an Intergenerational Holiday Sing-a-Long.
Residents from Park Rose Estates and the Franciscan Villa, along with NPE retirees, joined the students in the school’s cafeteria to sing classic holiday songs such as Let it Snow!, Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The students and their guests then had the chance to get to know each other better while decorating and enjoying holiday cookies.
The first-ever Holiday Sing-a-Long is part of NPE’s year-long series of Positivity Project activities and events. The sing-a-long exemplified character traits such as community, gratitude and service. The Positivity Project, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping America’s youth build stronger relationships by recognizing the character strengths in themselves and others.
